India take on Australia in World Cup quarterfinal at Motera






CHENNAI: India will face defending champions Australia in the quarterfinals of the cricket World Cup as the knockout stage begins on March 23 following the conclusion of league matches.

India thumped West Indies by 80 runs to finish second in Group B with nine points, behind South Africa (10).

India will take on Australia, who won the World Cup title four times, including three on the trot in 1999, 2003 and 2007, in Ahmedabad on March 24.


After India defeated West Indies in the last league matches before the quarter finals, the quarterfinals clashes were decided.

And now India will have to face the one of the mightiest teams of this world cup and former world cup champion Australia.




After the first quarter finals between Pakistan vs West Indies, India will take on Australia in 2nd quarter finals at Sardar Patel Gujarat Stadium, Motera.

This match like all other for India is also a day and night match and will begin sharply at 1430 hours in Gujarat.

Other two quarter finals that will be played are New Zealand vs South Africa and Sri Lanka vs England .
